This marks the start of me not only writing patch notes, but also why my blog requires more restructuring!
You'll find that most of these changes are pretty insignificant, I hope? They should mostly be backend and the site should be
visually unaffected.
Changes
I'll try to keep these in order of importance, but no promises!
- The frontend's Javascript is now split into multiple files. This is one of the larger changes this update. Currently, this only serves the purpose of optimization, but in the future, I hope to dynamically tell what scripts will and won't be required for the page you're on, allowing faster loading.
- JQuery has been replaced with cash.js for the sake of optimization.
- Image Cache and my PFP now use interlaced images! This will make a bigger difference for people on poor connections or those who are just far away, so it's less jarring when my slow website takes 30 minutes to load Giorno's face.
- My PFP is currently a part of my API, but this is planned to change soon for more flexibility.
- The intro animation for the site should no longer be broken on Chromium based browsers (OperaGX, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, etc)
- This one stumped me for a while. So much in fact im still a bit stumped as to why this was an issue. It appeared removing opacity from the animation fixed it? Who knows. Well I guess that's supposed to be my job to know-
- All of my PFPs are now 256x256 instead of being variable.
- My PFPs on the main page are the same as on UserPFP, so this should help meet their guidelines.
- Images on the Cache now use sharp for image processing instead of Thumbor, which should increase download speeds on the server? Difference is unnotable for clients.
- Lots of general changes to the word highlight list. Many removals for stuff that is no longer in use, nessacary, or words that simply were not present on the site. Also some changes, such as "Teto Tuesday" and "Teto Territory" just being replaced with "Teto T", which should do the job at both along with other comboes such as Teto Torque or whatever else I decide to add. Otherwise, highlight list is pretty indifferent.
- The main title has a different color now. It used to be rgb(200, 150, 255) but now it's rgb(175, 125, 255)! I'm not good with colors. Sorry.
- This also mean's it's no longer automatically the same as the highlight color for words like Violet.
- Updated the title of the "Random video!" section to "Predetermined weekly video!" instead. Currently, the API automates this process. When I am finished with ClipDump, the current system will be replaced by an even more automatic one! That may not be in a long time, though.
- Ambience page was removed. This was so it looked nice on my TV. And now i am no longer doing that. So it's gone. Bummer.
- Fixed background color looking like complete garbage if your browser couldn't handle gradients
- I'm not completely sure why I still bother with making sure gradientless browsers work but I do!
Conclusion
Next up: Alot of stuff. The next update probably won't come out for a while! I have alot of ideas flowing through my head right now stacked on top of school.
Namely, that being more website support for Univerter, making ClipDump, seperating PFP stuff from my API, optimizing the blog and reworking blog structure, making announcements not a part of just a config, bringing back Matrix, making/setting up a uptime monitor, so on so forth.
I also need money.
Badly.
So! Who know's what's next. Maybe i'll do nothing! I dunno! But whatever it is I'm sure it'll be of questionable quality, as is a staple!
